ACVM welcomes clients for annual golf day

Directors and clients enjoyed a competitive day out at the invitational event.

The annual Arnold Clark Vehicle Management golf day took place at Archerfield Links on Tuesday 27th June with teams of our customers and directors competing for glory on the greens. Although the weather was typically Scottish, it didn’t affect the fantastic scenery on offer or the standard of golf being played.

It was the second consecutive year the event has been hosted at Archerfield, located on the east coast of Scotland just 18 miles outside Edinburgh. This year, players swapped the more traditional Dirleton Links for the challenging mixture of pine forest and sweeping fairways on the Fidra Links course.

The competition used Team Stableford rules with only the best two scores counting towards points at each hole. Following some delicious breakfast rolls, everyone was ready for the shotgun start at 11am with each team teeing off from a different hole.

There were even a couple of pros on the course to provide some advice, with Ronan Rafferty and Gemma Webster each playing a hole with the teams and helping them find their perfect swing.

Although this was a friendly competition, there was still plenty to play for with prizes awarded from 1st–4th place with the winning team of Russell Borrie, Tom Durham, Andrew Dunsdon and Mick Taylor walking away with both the bragging rights as well as some brand-new Ping drivers. Mike Smith and Steven Lees both left in style as winners of Galvin Green jackets for getting their shots closest to the pin.

Ultimately, everyone was a winner with each participant getting a lovely leather shoe bag, polo shirt and gilet. Prizes were presented by directors David Cooper and Adam Clark before the teams enjoyed a buffet meal and some lively conversation about the day’s play.

David Cooper, Arnold Clark Finance Managing Director, said: ‘This golf day has become a great tradition for ACVM and it’s an excellent opportunity to spend time with our customers in a different environment. The partnerships we’ve formed are as important on the course as they are in business.’

ACVM’s directors look forward to welcoming customers to join them again for another round in 2018.
