Arnold Clark Vehicle Management partners with Lightfoot

Fleet customers will be offered this connected car technology.

Arnold Clark Vehicle Management has formalised its partnership with Lightfoot, the award-winning, connected car technology that rewards better drivers. The Lightfoot system offers a potential 20% saving on fuel bills, 45% reduction in downtime and a 60% reduction in accidents, as well as offering vehicle tracking telematics data.

Rather than simply tracking driver behaviour like more traditional telematics, the technology also offers real-time visual and verbal feedback to help every driver maximise engine efficiency and improve safety. The device is fitted to the vehicle, where it listens to the engine via the OBD port and determines its efficiency sweet spot using F1-style analytics. It then communicates this to the driver, providing audible and visual guidance should the driver stray from the engine's sweet spot.

David Cooper, Managing Director of Arnold Clark Vehicle Management, said: 'We're delighted to formalise our partnership with Lightfoot which will help our fleets stay at the cutting edge of innovation. We offer customers a range of customised solutions to meet their needs and our latest partnership will create more efficient drivers which will translate into real savings across our fleets.'

The Lightfoot system, which can be fitted to both company cars and LCVs, also provides incentives for drivers. As drivers are motivated to improve their own driving style during every journey, this means far less time will be spent by fleet managers doing retrospective analysis.

All drivers are given a score according to how consistently they have followed Lightfoot's guidance. If they reach the 'Elite Driver' level (Lightfoot's gold standard which most achieve), this will unlock an extensive range of benefits and rewards including exclusive discounts on meals, experience days and gadgets, as well as entry into weekly competitions with prizes like holiday vouchers and hotel stays. Lightfoot drivers can also enjoy cheaper car insurance for their personal cars and discounts on vehicle hire if they reach the Elite level at work. Drivers can check on their status, as well as their position in the Elite Driver leagues, using an app available for both Apple and Android devices.

The system also provides online telematics reports to ensure that fleet managers can maintain a broad overview of their fleets. They'll also have the option to track their drivers in real time with data provided on position, speed and driver behaviour. Other optional functionality includes FNOL, service, tax and MOT alerts and vehicle diagnostics.

This advanced technology is currently fitted on thousands of vehicles, and the data proves there have been significant reductions in the amount of fuel used and the number (and severity) of accidents.

Martin Kadhim, Director at Lightfoot, commented on the partnership: 'We couldn't be happier that the largest dealer group in Europe has selected us as a partner - we have had a wonderful experience working with its partner business, Activa, and are looking forward to helping Arnold Clark's customers improve vehicle efficiency and driver safety by rewarding their drivers for good performance.'
